As a caregiver to my brother who has autism, this month holds deep meaning for me. I’ve even written a book about our journey titled Sibling Caregivers: How to have a life, be encouraged and live stress-free.”
At Oh Be You Facial Bar and UDODI Skincare, I believe that care whether for our loved ones or our skin should always be gentle, intentional, and rooted in love.
For Our Loved Ones on the Spectrum
Autism presents a unique sensory experience, and for many individuals on the spectrum, skincare can be a challenge. That’s why we champion minimal, soothing routines using fragrance-free, non-irritating ingredients—like our Hydrating Serum or Reveal C Serum.
These are perfect for delicate skin and can become a calming ritual in daily routines.
Simple skincare can be a moment of connection, teaching self-awareness, touch, and calm. For the Caregivers
Caregiving is an act of love—but it’s also a full-time job that can leave little time for self-care. As someone who understands this deeply, I invite you to schedule time for your own wellness, even if it's just 5 minutes.
A gentle face mask, a moment of stillness, or a monthly facial at Oh Be You can be an act of restoration. Our space was created to support healing—not just of the skin, but of the spirit.
When it comes to caregiving:
Consistency Creates Progress
For many with autism, routine means peace. Being consistent with their routine creates order in their 'chaotic' world. This lesson is also crucial in skincare as routine breeds consistency and consistency translates to results.
A consistent routine with the right products can make all the difference
The Importance of Gentle Care
With autism, gentle, thoughtful approaches often give the best outcomes. This is just as important when it comes to skincare. Over-aggressive treatments or harsh ingredients can cause irritation and worsen your skin condition. When you treat your skin with tenderness, it responds positively. |
Ways We're Supporting
In honor of Autism Awareness Month, I’ll be sharing my personal story as a sibling caregiver on podcasts and social media throughout April. My hope is that by speaking openly, I can shine a light on the caregiver experience, offer encouragement, and help others feel seen and supported.
Follow along on @udodiskincare and @ohbeyoufacialbar for behind-the-scenes moments, wellness tips, and skin rituals for both caregivers and our loved ones. Want to Learn More About My Caregiving Journey?
